Erectile dysfunction (ED) or impotence is sexual dysfunction characterized by the inability to develop or maintain an erection of the penis during sexual activity in humans. A penile erection is the hydraulic effect of blood entering and being retained in sponge-like bodies within the penis. The process is most often initiated as a result of sexual arousal, when signals are transmitted from the brain to nerves in the penis. The most important organic causes for erectile dysfunction are cardiovascular disease and diabetes, neurological problems (for example, trauma from prostatectomy surgery), hormonal insufficiencies (hypogonadism) and drug side effects. Research indicates that erectile dysfunction is common and it is suggested that approximately 40% of males suffer from erectile dysfunction or impotence at least occasionally.
Erectile Dysfunction is caused when the blood does not flow properly into the Corpus Cavernous. There are two blood vessels in the penis called Corpus Cavernous. These blood vessels get filled with blood making the Penis Erect. When the blood is not filling into these vessels the erection does not take place. In Penile Implant Surgery two silicon rods are placed inside these cavernous making them permanently hard. This is the Malleable Penile Implant Surgery. In Inflatable Implants two silicon tubes are placed inside the cavernous and a switch is placed inside the scrotum. When you press the switch, fluid from the switch goes into the tubes which inflates the tubes and make them hard. This causes erection in the penis which makes sexual intercourse possible. In the 3 Piece Penile Implant a ball filled with fluid is placed inside the abdominal wall.
Dr Subhabrata Ganguly is one of the best urologist for doing the Penile Implant Surgery for the treatment of Erectile Dysfunction. Penile Implant Surgery in India would cost USD 3500 if you choose to have Indian Malleable Implant while the cost would be USD 10000 if you choose 2 Piece AMS Inflatable Implant and USD 15000 if you have 3 Piece AMS Inflatable Implant. The cost of surgery is only 20 percent while the rest of the cost is due to the price of the implant which gets imported from the US.
Another implant which is available in the Inflatable category is Coloplast but is not used very commonly in India due to supply issues. The cost for this implant is slightly lower than the AMS implant. If you wish to have a malleable implant then the Indian implant is the best choice.
